Three simple steps will win over the Dannii Minogue’s and Cheryl Cole’s of the world…

Step 1: Epically point to as many people in the audience as possible. This accomplishes the breaking of the 4th wall and lets the audience become “part of the action.”

Step 2: Defy gravity at least once. The simple idea of multi-tasking on stage is always a sure-fire audience gratifier.

Step 3: Sing the metaphorical shit out of any chosen song.

Season 6 of the UK’s “The X Factor” (their version of American idol, but exponentially better because of the fact that it is in the UK) kicked off this past weekend with a slough of what you’d normally expect from these kinds of competitions - the good, the bad, the YouTube Sensations.

The act gathering the most buzz this fine Monday is Danyl Johnson. In what Simon Cowell called the “best first audition he has ever seen on [the] show,” Daniel took each step of the above guidelines to ridiculous limits. He even managed to add in the secret 4th Step as he brought in a healthy level of cockiness to his beyond-memorable performance of The Beatles “A Little Help from my Friends.” Many news outlets are already giving Danyl the Susan Boyle fanfair, but are failing to mention his parents’ blatant disregard for proper name spelling. Lord knows that every woman in the UK, including the fawning female judges, Cheryl Cole (Girls Aloud) and Dannii Minogue (of Kylie fame), are going to take him as far as possible.
